Re-Pro's organisation
The new structure of Re-Pro was devised in 1992 in order to respond to changes
in the aims of the organisation so that we could represent and proclaim
the views and the needs of the profession in public arenas. The changes
in 1992 made the organisation much more transparently democratic and involved
the membership directly in the decision-making process.
Directorate
Every year we hold an AGM (Annual General Meeting) at which
we elect 50% of Re-Pro's Directorate - electing half the Directors at a
time provides for continuity and still gives the Full members a chance to
get involved in 'their Guild'. Being a Directorate Member is a great responsibility
and ours take it very seriously - there will only be a couple of formal
meetings during each year but most Directors keep in close touch with Re-Pro
activities and take their own time to help organise events and monitor how
the planned activities proceed.
Executive
At the first meeting of the newly elected Directorate,
the Directors elect 6 of their number to form the Re-Pro Executive Committee.
The Executive presides at the heart of Re-Pro activities and is responsible
for the day-to-day organisation and business. In addition to the 6 elected
Exec members, the Chairman and the Vice-Chairman are Exec Members. The Executive
is able to bring in other any other Re-Pro member (elected or not) to help
them run things so anyone with particular expertise can very often be persuaded
to share their experience for the benefit of other members.
Staff
We are fortunate to able to employ three part time assistants.
The Secretary to the Guild, Jackie Da Costa, who has been with us since
the BRPG days, knows more about fab and fickle producers than anyone. Jackie
runs the membership, monitors subscriptions and handles telephone and mail
enquiries, as well as assisting the Chairman and the Directors to organise Re-Pro
events and benefits. Jackie also handles the day-to-day administration
for Re-Pro International as well as for the UK operation.
Another part-timer, Chris Hook, takes care of our marketing and sponsorship
- co-ordinating the assembly of the quarterly Re-Pro News, distributing
press releases and handling the production of our publications such as the
new brochure.
We have recently welcomed yet another part-time helper to Re-Pro,
BEEN HOWLETT, who will be organising our Forum Meetings and Social
Events. She will also assist Jackie in servicing our Web site -
particularly updating the contact and biog information supplied by our
members on a regular basis.
The Re-Pro International Web pages will be serviced by member Mike Collins,
who when he is not in the studio, works as a journalist specialising in
reviews of the latest audio and computer hardware and software.

Networking
As members, producers have an invaluable platform
from which they can share views and experiences and encourage a flow of
practical help and advice.
Telephone Hot Lines - Legal, Accounting and Financial Planning
The Guild has established three hotlines manned by experts who can answer
questions on legal, accounting and personal finance issues. Members are
entitled to up to one hour's free advice from the experts - who include
lawyer Nick Rann of Rann & Co, accountant Neil Dyer of Dyer & Co
and personal finance advisor Dave Parish of Carlton Financial Planning.
All three have particular experience of the problems faced by people working
in the music and media industries.
Open Forums
Informal meetings for members and their guests are held regularly, where industry luminaries are invited to field questions
from the membership. The meetings help to establish links with the rest
of the music industry so that the Guild's views and concerns are heard.
