Re-Pro Sponsors & Friends
As a division of the Association of Professional Recording Sevices (APRS),
Re-Pro has, from its inception, received invaluable assistance with its
administrative and accounting responsibilities as well as a considerable
subsidy. Re-Pro's current Vice Chairman, Peter Filleul, sits on the APRS
Board and reports to the APRS Directors so that Re-Pro and APRS activities
can be co-ordinated to benefit all the members - all Re-Pro members are
also Associate Members of the APRS.
We have found this connection with the services side of the music industry
provides a very useful opportunity to meet studio owners, equipment manufacturers
and suppliers and the pressers and duplicaters , enabling all of us to keep
abreast with fast changing technological innovations. It has also had the
effect of reinforcing the value of the producer as the person most likely
to influence the purchase of equipment and supplies. Any other producer
or engineer organisation could well benefit from the advantage provided
by our unique and perfectly targeted market for manufacturers and service
suppliers.
As a result, Re-Pro has been able to attract financial support from prominent tape manufacturers, for example, and also from equipment hire businesses. This sponsorship usually takes the form of ad hoc support for activities and publications to which the manufacturer or supplier can associate themselves directly. For example, QUANTEGY supports our forum meetings and newsletter at home and BASF have funded our brochure and are now funding our extensive Re-Pro International operations.
The BASF funding will allow Re-Pro International to develop the
INTERNET site, to attend the AES conventions and to set up forum meetings
for Producers in every member country. In addition the BASF funding will
support the efforts that Sound Directors are making to remedy the anachronisms that exist in European copyright laws.
James Rattray, BASF Product Manager - Audio Studio, who is based at the
company's Ludwigshaven headquarters in Germany said "We are pleased
to have an opportunity to reinforce our relationship with studio producers.
We have always respected the valuable role that the producer plays in the
recording process and agree that that role can only grow in importance in
the future."
In addition, this year Re-Pro has introduced a corporate support scheme, called Friends of Re-Pro, which is designed to provide funding for general administration as well as giving manufacturers and service suppliers a chance to help without taking too much of a chunk out of their marketing budgets.
Becoming a Friend of Re-Pro entitles a firm to an annual free mail-out to the membership and a regular appearance in Re-Pro which sustains the awareness of corporate identity and enables the promotion of new products to our perfectly targeted market. The Friends of Re-Pro donation is 250.00 but some companies may wish to acquire separate membership for specific brand names which fall under their corporate umbrella.
