Mark's professional studio career begain in the early 1980s as a session musician for artists including Lindisfarne, Mari Wilson, Steve Marriott and Suzi Quatro. In 1982, he composed and produced The Leaving - an instrumental single under the group name Organization which was picked up by BBC Television as the long-running theme to the Man Alive series. Following a long spell of touring, Mark went back into production with artist such as Bronski Beat, Suzi Quatro and The Grass Giants, and produced singles for BBC Records, including two for the 1985 and 1986 Children In Need Appeals.
In 1987, while Head of Production at Diploma Studios in Essex, he
undertook an unusual commission to produce an authentic re-recording of The Beatles classic Sergeant Pepper album, after which he spent the next two years as a successful broadcast jingle composer/producer.
1995 saw Mark collaborate with Jeff Jarratt and Don Reedman at Abbey Road on a project for Vision Records, and he is currently working on a new album with guitarist Gordon Giltrap.
In recent years, Mark has been mainly active as a regular editorial
contributor to Sound On Sound, Audio Media, Pro Sound News, The Mix and many other leading music and pro-audio magazines. His authoritative book, Good Vibrations - A History of Record Production was published in May 1996 and features interview and contributions from many Re-Pro members.

Fax: 0171 916 3302
Biography:
Mike Vernon started his career in record production in the mid-
sixties when he was hired by Decca Records as a production assistant.
After a year he began producing his own sessions and during five years as a staff producer, he was responsible for such acts as Ten Years After, David Bowie, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and Savoy Brown.
Mike then left Decca to become an independent record producer and formed his own label, Blue Horizon, in conjunction with US partners Seymour Stein and Richard Gottehrer.
His hits included Fleetwood Mac, (Albatross was the band's first Gold No. 1), Chicken Shack (I'd Rather Go Blind) and Dutch rock band Focus (Hocus Pocus/Sylvia).
Vernon went on to have Top 20 hits with Level 42, Bloodstone (a No. 1 in the US) Freddie King, Olympic Runners, Dr Feelgood, Edwin Starr, Carmel, Climax Blues Band and Roachford (Including the Family Man single).
He has recently produced new albums for Roger Chapman, The Scabs, Larry McCray, Sherman Robertson, Jay Owens (NME's new blues album of the year) and John Primer (Voted Best Blues Album '95 by Jazz FM).
A new album by the legendary Bo Diddley is Mike's most recent production for his new label venture Code Blue (via East West and Atlantic US). This album includes appearances by Ron Wood, Keith Richards, Johnny Guitar Watson and Richie Sambora).
Mike also compiled a live album for Joe Cocker and produced a second album with Six Was Nine for Virgin (Winner of the '95 Echo Award for Germany's best new band), as well as the first album for the UK's Best Blues Act of '95 (Blueprint), The Hoax, again for Code Blue. His next project is a 3-CD box set for Sony of The Blue Horizon Story.
