| SSL CLAIMS AWARD No. 4 Talking of exports, one has to hand it to SSL. 'It', being the Queen's Award for Export Achievement, was recently handed to John Jeffrey, SSL managing director, at the company's Oxfordshire headquarters. It was the fourth such Award SSL have won, and climaxed a six-year period in which the company doubled its sales and raised the export content to 96 percent of the total. |
... AND CONGRATULATIONS TO ABBEY ROAD
Abbey Road's Class Act Accolades of another kind were won by Accord member Abbey Road in the 1998 'Gramophone' Awards.
The Best Historical Compilation Award went to the studio's re-mastering department for a 13-CD set of Rostropovich recordings, and a 10-CD set of recordings by singer Aksel Schiotz won the Editor's Choice Award. Our congratulations to Abbey Road and engineer Andrew Walters.
