NEWS FROM RE-PRO
In the middle of the summer we heard the excellent outcome of the lengthy negotiations between the PPL and PAMRA [the Performing Arts Media Rights Association, of which Re-Pro was a founding member].
PPL accepted the new payment scheme by which performance incomeĀ from the UK and some overseas territories will be distributed to all those who make a performance contribution to recordings. Most Re-Pro members will qualify for a share in future payouts. The necessary legislation, to bring the UK into line with other EC countries and allow Re-Pro to deal directly with the users of recordings, still needs to be enacted by parliament.
